Module · switch on per organisation

Who you work with, and what that has amounted to

Enclessa Customers is the module that holds the companies an organisation works with: a record per company with an owner, a status and the words the organisation itself uses, plus contacts, addresses, a log of what was said and the date somebody will come back to it. Opening one customer shows the projects being run for them, the hours those cost and the appointments they booked, assembled from whichever modules are installed — and the financial fields are absent rather than blank when nobody present may see them.

Open betaThe platform is being built in the open, so parts of it are not there yet, behaviour changes between releases, and no availability figure is committed while it is in beta. What is still being built.

What makes it different from an address book?

That the other modules answer to it. A customer record on its own is contacts, addresses, a status and an activity log with a follow-up date — useful, and roughly what a spreadsheet does. What a spreadsheet cannot do is show the projects being run for that company, the hours those have cost, the appointments they have booked and the last thing anybody said to them, each one resolved for the person reading it according to what that person is allowed to see.

  • A record per company, with an owner, a status and the organisation’s own words
  • Contacts and addresses — never accounts, and never able to sign in
  • A log of what was said, and the date somebody will come back to it
  • The projects, hours and appointments that point at them
  • Invoicing details behind a permission of their own

Who can see the commercial side?

Invoicing details sit behind a permission of their own, and the rule the module follows is that a field nobody present may see is absent rather than blank. A greyed-out box tells a reader that a number exists and they are not trusted with it, which is a different and worse disclosure than the record simply not showing it.

  • Invoicing details are a permission, not a role
  • A field nobody may see is absent, not greyed out
  • The same resolution applies to the panels other modules contribute

What this does not do

  • Customers is off until an operator enables the module for the organisation.
  • A contact is a record, not a login. There is no customer portal and no way for somebody outside the organisation to sign in and see their own record.
  • It is not a sales pipeline: there are no deals, stages, forecasts or quotas.

Questions

Customers: common questions

Does Enclessa include a CRM?

Enclessa has a Customers module that holds the companies an organisation works with, their contacts and addresses, an activity log and a follow-up date, together with the projects, hours and appointments that point at them. It is not a sales pipeline — there are no deals, stages, forecasts or quotas.

Can a customer sign in to Enclessa?

No. Contacts on a customer record are records rather than accounts and cannot sign in. The only surface somebody outside the organisation ever reaches is a booking page or a shared employee card, and neither of those is an account.

Who can see a customer’s invoicing details?

Only somebody holding the permission for them. Where nobody present holds it the fields are absent rather than blank, because a greyed-out box discloses that a figure exists.
