Calls that start where the conversation already is

Enclessa video calls run on LiveKit and start from the channel or direct message you are already in, so nobody schedules a meeting to ask a question. Calls carry screen sharing, in-call chat, reactions, raise hand, a lobby and host controls, and a Calls surface lists what is live and what is ringing across your workspace. In end-to-end encrypted rooms the media is encrypted end to end as well.

How do calls start?

From the room. A call belongs to the channel or conversation it began in, which means it inherits that room’s membership and permissions instead of needing a second invitation list. Incoming calls ring with a notification, and you can join from more than one device at once.

What is in a call?

Screen sharing, in-call chat that survives into the room afterwards, reactions and raise hand, background blur and noise suppression. Hosts can mute, remove or promote a participant, and a lobby holds people outside until they are let in.

What does encryption change about a call?

In an end-to-end encrypted room the media is encrypted with keys the media server does not hold, so it forwards packets it cannot decode. That is the point, and it is also why two features are not offered there: recording and telephone dial-in would both require decoding the media somewhere outside the room, and doing that quietly would make the encryption a decoration.

What this does not do

  • Fifty participants per media node is the architectural target the system is built and instrumented for, not a figure measured with fifty real people in a room.
  • Recording exists as a job that the media egress accepts; producing and delivering a finished recording file is not complete.
  • Telephone dial-in, live captions, breakout rooms and transcription are planned and not built.
